Punjab -30 March- After consignments from Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Karnataka were rejected, now Gandhidham Gujarat has received B Grade Rice from Ludhiana, Punjab. Food Corporation of India (FCI) Gandhidham has registered a complaint regarding 35831 bags of B Grade Rice received from Jagraon, Ludhiana, which were found to be of poor quality, high colour percentage and failure in coloured grains. It is worth mentioning that recently there have been reports of corruption by FCI employees in Punjab. Punjab Vigilance and CBI have also arrested employees belonging to Ludhiana and Patiala on charges of bribery. Sources have revealed that local FCI employees take huge bribes from cellar owners by changing the quality, which goes from bottom to top. Department sources say that this bribe is in crores of rupees. If we look at the statistics, this figure will be shocking. The bribe taken from the cellar owners is divided into parts up to the top. Recently, during the Lok Sabha Sangrur by-election, an issue related to Sangrur was raised by a retired DSP Balwinder Singh Sekho, whose report related to food grains was also registered at the Sangrur railway station. In Punjab, we constantly hear news that Punjab rice going to other states has been found to be of poor quality. This rice is available to our countrymen at cheap prices or free of cost through various schemes of the Centre. Giving poor quality rice to the government with collusion and being eaten by the people is a big legal offence. But to stop all this, the central agencies will have to go through a lot of difficulties because this chain system is so big that a solution will need to be found to stop it. When DM FCI Ludhiana Mr. Meena was spoken to about this whole matter, he said that since our rice did not reach the quality in any other state, we will send a team there to check it. Such issues have happened before too. When media wanted to talk to the Mr.B Sirinivasan GM of FCI Punjab, he did not pick up the phone.During the last one year maximum complaints were received from other states regarding poor quality rice of Punjab.
